Technical Sculptor Timothy Holt transforms LUNG in Bournemouth with Here, There and Duracell , a kinetic installation encapsulating everyday building material and physical space. Often incorporating the audience, his work concentrates upon the transformatio n of discarded domestic appliances to create new forms, whilst also retaining part of the original object. The exhibition traces the artist’s playful nature to elaborate the ordinary and raises questions about how objects are perceived. These works closely resemble the “manufacture program” in turn questioning the boundaries between art and object senses; systematically dipping into design. Subsequently his constructed series of numbered artefacts serve the means for creating an intellect of identity, civi c, collective…and even personality. The show engages a diverse methodology for appropriating construction within an artistic location, coaxing the spectator to question, tease as well as navigating their way around our current world and thereby heighten ing our dependent bond to materials.
